Riverdale fans, rejoice! Just when we thought we were going to have to wait until October to get more details about season three, the entire cast attended San Diego’s Comic-Con to spill A LOT of tea! The kind of tea that has us counting down the days till the show’s premiere! We were also blessed with a little teaser, and um, it promises a ton of new drama, characters, and a CULT involving Polly! We can forget about the Black Hood because the gang will have other things to worry about this season.
The show’s stars, including KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madeleine Petsch, Ashleigh Miller, Casey Cott, Mark Consuelos, Skeet Ulrich, Marisol Nichols, Madchen Amick, and Luke Perry, sat down for a panel over the weekend where they dished the ~JUICIEST~ info ever! Let’s just say it’s enough to hold us over until the fall!
WE’RE FINALLY GOING TO MEET JUGHEAD’S MOM & SISTER:
Cole himself confirmed that Jughead’s mother and sister (Gladys and Jellybean Jones) will return to Riverdale for at least an episode this season. He expects them to appear in either the eighth or ninth episode.
THERE’S A NEW, CONFIRMED CHARACTER:
In casting news, it was revealed that Penelope Ann Miller has joined the cast to play Ms. Wright, the district attorney determined to convict Archie of a murder he didn’t commit. It looks like he’ll be Archiekins main enemy this season.
THERE WILL BE A TIME JUMP:
“Starting in season three, we take place 3 months after season two left off,” Lili revealed, confirming theories that cropped up when the season three poster appeared online. “They’ve gone through their summer and are about to go back to school.” We can’t wait to see what happened over the summer!
THERE MIGHT BE A FLASHBACK SCENE & ANOTHER MUSICAL EPISODE:
Riverdale has plans to do another musical episode, as well as a flashback episode focused on the parents. That means we’ll get to see how #Falice’s love story all started!
“We’re planning to do that. When we started we had a wish list of all the things we wanted to do. I think we’re going to do that in season three.” Riverdale‘s EP Roberto Sacasa-Aguirre revealed, noting that the younger actors would portray their on-screen parents in the flashback episode.
#VARCHIE & #BUGHEAD’S FUTURES:
Camila revealed that Veronica and Archie might run into some problems next season, with KJ adding that “the distance and separation, if [Archie] goes away, is going to be tough” on their relationship.
As for #Bughead, Cole said “it’s looking like it’s going to pretty good for them this season,” but Lili revealed that “we don’t know how things are going to pan out.” She did confirm that Jughead and Betty will be the investigative duo they were on season one, which is always fun to watch.
WE’RE GOING TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE FARM THAT POLLY LIVES ON:
The “farm” is actually a cult that Betty’s mother and sister are both involved in. It’s lead by a man named Edgar Evernever, who we’ll meet in season three. “Alice and Polly kind of attack her. Their new, weird spirituality with the farm makes them tell her that she needs to listen to her soul and confront her problems. So Betty wants to stay far, far away from them,” Lili explained.
LAST, BUT NOT LEAST – A BRAND NEW TRAILER:
The majority of the trailer serves as a huge recap of the previous two seasons, but at the two-minute mark, we see a few new scenes which include Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead enjoying their Labor Day vacation. However, it’s the very last scene that has fans talking. It shows Betty creeping downstairs in the middle of the night to discover Polly and Alice engaging in a ritual involving her twin niece and nephew. To say it’s creepy AF would be a complete understatement.
Riverdale returns to The CW on Wednesday, October 9, 2018, at 8/7c. Even with what little information we got, the new season promises to be full of action and suspense!
